2013
2014
2015
The photos are in order from oldest to newest.
As of 1/16/15, there is only one living chicken: Chickie.
Yep, I took no chicken photos in 2012, bad me.
Here are some photos from 1/13/08. Chickie was up on the roost so there is just one photo of
her.
Four of the chickens - on the left side in
his side of the cage is Sugar. From top to bottom on the right are Poulet, Pondet, and
Speckles.

Chickie - a head on view. I love this
photo! I think she was hoping for some mealworms!
Three of the chickens - from top to
bottom are Pondet, Poulet, and Speckles.
Four of the chickens - Sugar can be seen
back in his cage. Inside are Poulet on the left and Pondet on the right. Outside of the house and
closest to the camera is Speckles.
On 8/3/08, Sugar was hurt. I found him hanging upside down by his spur on the fence. He had
hung there all night. When I got him down, he could barely walk. I thought he was a goner so I
took a bunch of photos. He recovered though in a few days.

I took these photos on 3/8/09:
Chickens - Pondet, Speckles, and
Chickie, left to right
Chickens - Speckle's head on the left
and Chickie (always wanting mealworms)

Chickens - Poulet, Sugar, and Pondet,
left to right. This was the last photo of Sugar who died on 7/16/09.
On 8/16/09, Petunia was born but not seen until the next day. Here are the first photos from
8/17/09. Pondet is Petunia's mother. Speckles is Petunia's father and half brother since Pondet
is Speckle's mother too.

Speckles was caught with his mouth open! The parents were eating most of the baby's food.
Petunia and Pondet - in this photo, you can
best see the dark stripe that Delaware chicks have behind their eye; Petunia is otherwise all
yellow until the regular feathers start to come in.

Here is a video from 8/17/09 of one-day-old Petunia and her parents (mother Pondet and
father/brother Speckles):

Here are two nice photos of three-day-old Petunia on 8/19/09:

This photo from 8/29/09 is of Poulet indoors in a dog kennel where she is safe from the other
mean chickens. You can see her bloody head.
Poulet
Here is Petunia on 9/3/09 at 18 days old. She had a deer tick stuck to the bottom of her right eye
which you can see in the photos. I could not get it off that day since she struggled so much,
and the tick was small. I was able to get the tick off in the morning when it was larger, full of
blood. Petunia was not happy with that.

Here are some good photos from 9/5/09 when Petunia was 20 days old:

On 9/9/09, a peacock appeared on our land. In this photo of the peacock, you can see part of the
chicken pen. Chickie is top of the nest box, and Speckles is on the ground. For more on
peacocks, go here.

Here is Petunia on 9/13/09 at 4 weeks old. She is in the food bowl with daddy Speckles on the
right and Mommy Pondet to the left.

I took these two photos on 9/20/09 of Petunia at 5 weeks old. I was positioning her for the
photos with my hand because she does not want to sit still!

Here are three photos of Petunia at 8 weeks old and her parents on 10/10/09. I give them a treat
each Saturday morning of bird seed when I fill the bird feeders. Petunia is in the food bowl.

I tried to get a video of Petunia on 10/18/09. As you can see, she did not stick around long!
Parts of
her parents can also be seen fleetingly.
Petunia on 1/31/10.
Eggs on 4/18/10. Chickie and Petunia have both been laying about a green egg per day. On this day though, one of them laid an egg that was half the normal size on the right! It is shown here with the other, normal egg laid that day on the left. The smaller egg also went from the usual green to blue!
These photos of the chickens were taken on 7/3/10 while they were eating bird seed. The sun
was shining such that there are a lot of shadows in the photos.

Chickie, Speckles, Pondet, and Petunia (who was molting).

These photos from 5/21/11 are of My Girl (a white tailed deer doe) showing off her various
facial
expressions. Look closely, I accidently took photos of the rooster Speckles and one of the hens
(cannot tell which one from so far away).

On 5/6/14, either Chickie or Petunia laid an egg that was much smaller than normal. Here is a photo next
to a normal egg of theirs.
Miniature chicken egg
I took photos of the chickens on 1/1/15 as I knew that Petunia was going to die soon. She had crop rot
which I discovered too late. You can see how her chest (crop) is distended in the photos.
Petunia died 1/3/15, and Speckles died 1/15/15 at 9.5 years old. Chickie is the lone survivor.
These are the last photos of Petunia and Speckles, taken on 1/1/15:

On 7/16/15, I took my last chicken photo, of Chickie. She died 9/30/15. ;-( This was her 61st photo!
I sure took a lot of photos of her for my web site, more than any animal ever I think!
