The photos are in order from oldest to newest.
While previously I went through and mentioned which chickens were deceased, I have not done so for Sprouty and Spicey who died more recently.
Beebee's head on 1/25/04. You can see the
black frost damage to his comb. Beebee was murdered by a fox on 3/24/04. This was his last
photo. He looks kind of mean in the picture but he was my sweetheart!
Pondet on 8/15/04.
Eggs - Brown Pondet egg (bottom left),
two green Spicey eggs (she was an Easter egg chicken), and one store bought white egg (top) for
comparison on 1/8/05.
Pondet (far left), Sugar (second from left), Spice
(bottom, deceased), and Poulet (top) on 2/13/05.
Pondet (bottom) and Poulet (top) on
2/13/05.
Photos of Sprout and Speckles and some with Pondet:
Pondet on 7/8/05; she is sitting on Sprout who has hatched and Speckles who was in the process of hatching or almost there; she was very defensive.
Sprout (top) and Speckles (bottom) with
Pondet on 7/9/05.
Sprout (bottom) and Speckles (top) with
Pondet on 7/9/05. Speckles is still damp!
Sprout (left) and Speckles (right) with Pondet
on 7/9/05. Pondet's mouth is open and looks funny! I fed them in the nest box because Pondet
still would not get up (I thought she was sitting on a third egg which vanished.)
Sprout (left) and Speckles (right) on 7/11/05,
3-days-old.
Sprout (top) and Speckles (bottom) on

Sprout (left) and Speckles (right) with Pondet
on 7/11/05; she is offering them a piece of kale in her beak!
I am not sure when this photo was taken. My mother gave it to me on 1/6/06 to scan for my site.
It is Sprouty under Pondet in the cardboard box so it is probably around 7/17/05. I think that may
be Speckles under the right side of her.
Pondet and Sprouty and maybe Speckles

Speckles (top) and Sprout (bottom) on
7/24/05. This is the last photo I have of poor Sprouty. Hence, I made it extra big! They are
16-days-old here.

Speckles and Pondet on 7/30/05. Who taught
him that weird neck move?

Speckles on 8/28/05, 51-days-old. He's
climbing on the window sill.
Speckles on 8/28/05. "Should I get down?"
You can really see his cheek feathers that stick out (a trait from his father's side for
Araucanas).
Speckles on 9/4/05, 58-days-old; the day
after
Specky and Pondet joined Sugar and Poulet. Look at his cute tail feathers.
Speckles on 9/4/05. "You are falling under
my power. Give me more mealworms!"
Speckles on 9/4/05.

Speckles on 9/17/05.
Speckles on 9/17/05. "You know I'm cute,
don't you?"
Speckles on 10/2/05, side view.
Speckles on 10/2/05, top view. His head is
down. You can really see his side head feathers.
I have slowed down taking photos of him. You might say I was a little obsessed getting photos of Speckles!
Speckles is full grown in these photos!

Chickens on 2/18/06. Speckles is at the top. Poulet is on the left. Pondet is at the bottom. Sugar is in the middle.
Pondet in the nest box, Poulet standing in front of it, and Sugar up against the fence on 4/26/06.
Sugar's Dewclaw - this is the dewclaw that broke off of Sugar's leg when his son, Speckles, attacked him on 12/16/06. There is a ruler in the photo which shows that the claw was over 3" if it could be unfurled.

I put up 12 photos of the chicken house and run from 12/24/06 on my bird shelter page. A few of the photos include the chickens in them (mostly Sugar but one Speckles and one Pondet).
